I’ve been a developer most of my career and my background is in the technical aspect of creating games. What that gives me is an immense appreciation for “polish”. Like many developers, I can get the core mechanics and the nuts and bolts stuff down quickly. However, it’s adding “polish” and cool effects that are time consuming and very tedious. That being said, you might ask how we’re making 3LW feel like a cool game and not a tech demo. The simple answer is: POLISH!!!

Today, Charles, Mike and I played through the first level of Child of Eden, a new release by Ubisoft. There must have been 3 discreet sections in the first level because it was a natural transition between the three of us. There are some pretty good nuggets of play in Child of Eden. I’m analyzing it from a NUI standpoint, not really a game content standpoint (I’ll leave that job for the reviewers).
